The goal of this project was to design a modern, research-forward website for the Rensselaer Center for Stem Cell Research (RCSCR)—a shared-use core facility at RPI supporting interdisciplinary work in regenerative medicine. The center needed a digital presence that accurately reflected its cutting-edge capabilities, while remaining approachable to a broad audience that includes academic researchers, students, and potential industry collaborators.
A key objective was to clearly communicate the range of services and specialized equipment available at the facility, from iPSC derivation and CRISPR editing to high-throughput imaging and 3D bioprinting. The existing content was fragmented across multiple institutional pages, so part of the challenge involved consolidating that information into a cohesive, user-friendly structure that made exploration intuitive.
Equally important was improving access and visibility—making it easy for users to inquire about services or view equipment availability. The site needed to strike a balance between scientific rigor and visual clarity, ensuring that complex content was still accessible to undergraduates, grant reviewers, and industry partners unfamiliar with technical jargon. Ultimately, the website was designed to serve as both a recruitment and collaboration tool, showcasing RPI’s biotech leadership and the center’s role within the larger research ecosystem.
