Owen Reilly, a Los Angeles-based guitarist and frontman for the metal band Felon 13, wanted a website that reflected his energy on stage while positioning him as a serious, versatile instructor. The goal was to design a site that rocked visually but still guided visitors clearly toward booking lessons.

Challenge

Owen’s brand had to strike a balance between metal showman and approachable teacher. His audience ranged from aspiring shredders to parents booking lessons for teenagers — meaning the site had to blend authenticity, excitement, and trust.

Key objectives:

  • Make booking lessons simple and mobile-first
  • Reflect his versatility across rock, metal, blues, and country
  • Deliver a bold visual identity that didn’t feel “corporate” or overly polished

Approach

We built the site around the tone of a tour poster meets modern booking platform.

  • Visual Identity: A mix of rough textures, distressed wood, and amplifier fabric patterns to echo the tactile feel of guitar culture. Purple and gold accents add personality and hierarchy.
  • Typography: Gritty hand-drawn headlines paired with clean sans-serif body text for legibility.
  • Photography: High-impact live performance shots contrasted with casual teaching photos — showing both the artist and the mentor.
  • UX & Flow: A single-page scrolling layout that moves from energy → credibility → conversion:
    1. “Let’s Make Some Noise” hero with a strong CTA
    2. About section emphasizing expertise and personality
    3. Pricing grid that removes friction by clearly displaying packages
  • Tools: Built on WordPress with Elementor, styled for speed and mobile optimization. Integrated with Bookly for seamless online booking and payments.

Results

  • Clear visual hierarchy and immediate trust cues led to faster booking inquiries within the first week.
  • The cohesive color and texture palette positioned Owen as both professional and authentic — an independent musician with polish.
